Local match man, Kevin Williams had a cracking day’s pleasure fishing  on Alice Springs last Tuesday.  Fishing the far side of Alice, using 6mm expanders and Hampton’s feed pellets, Kev caught 27 carp (3 ghost carp) ranging from 8-18lbs in weight.  In total he reckons that he caught between 280 and 300lbs of fish.

Those match weights keep on getting better.  Martin Wedley (Lionel’s tackle) won last sunday’s evening open with 111lbs 3oz off Rock pool, peg 10.  Martin had carp to 12lbs and barbel to 6lbs using pellet & corn in margins and shallow pellet.

Sunday evening open matches every sunday throughout the summer, on Rock, Meadows & Long island.  Draw is 3:45 in the cafe fishing 5pm – 8pm.  £15 all in.  Need any more details then ring Will/Rosie on 01948 820789.

Chris Diamond continues his winning streak on Thursday open matches with 104lbs 9oz off peg 23, Rock pool.  Mick Potter was also in the frame again with 77lbs 6oz from Rock pool, peg 16.   Next Thursday’s open match  is on 9th Sept on Rock pool and Willows.  £20 all in, draw at 10am fishing 11-4pm.

Regular with the Harry Hunter’s, Brian Hosie from the Wirral, had a big catch of carp on Thursday, 12th August.  Fishing on the point, tight to the island he had 13 mirrors and commons throughout the day using corn and pellets.  The largest fish was a mirror at 19.75lbs and a cracking common at 15lbs.  Brian has fished Folly over the last few weeks and reckons he has had 31 doubles out over his previous three visits. 

Karl Richardson from Huyton, Liverpool caught this beauty using sweetcorn, last sunday, 31st July.  Weighing in at 20lb 8oz, this was the biggest fish that Karl caught that day although he had two others at 12lbs (mirror) and 13lbs (common).
