Week begining 7th May

It’s been a good week for both pleasure and match anglers at Hampton.

Peter Hodges won Tuesday’s Over 50′s Costcutter with 85lbs11oz off peg 26 on Willows. He had barbel & carp on the pole and tip with corn. There were good backing weights of 63lbs2oz (Mark Greasley, second) 51lbs2oz (Peter Cooke, third) and 44lbs8oz (Neil Hunt, fourth). Another 100lb+ for Thursday’s Rovers match with Martin Holding bagging 119lbs8oz off peg 14 Long island. Martin was fishing pole with meat and had mainly carp. J0hn Cheetham had 112lbs6oz from Rock, peg 3.

Alice Springs is producing some nice catches of carp. The Connor family had plenty of catches earlier this week, see below.

Michael Potts from Chester also had a good day on Alice Springs on 8th May fishing the roadside furthest peg. He had a 20.5lbs mirror on meat and a 12.5 commonfrom the margins.

Folly produced a great day’s fishing for regular pleasure angler Bryan Perks on thursday (10th May). Bryan landed a total of 14 carp throughout the day upwards of 10lbs, with the two largest at 18 & 19lbs. All of the fish were caught using sweetcorn.

Pleasure anglers had a good day on Rock pool on Tuesday (24th Apr) with carp showing well. Jamie Pickup (Birkenhead) had over 100lbs of fish from peg 3, fishing 16m pole to the island. Biggest surprise of the day was his 4lb perch that he caught on meat.

Carp are starting to be regularly caught on Folly with an 18lb mirror caught last week. But Tony Smith (Fri 27th Apr) had the best catch with 20lb common after some expert advice from the bailiff!

James Houston sent in this nice photo of 13.5lb mirror that he caught on Saturday, 28th April. James was fishing a simple rig with a peice of meat in the margins.

Gary Vincent in Thursday’s Rovers match won with 126lbs8oz from Long island peg 7. Backing weights were also good with Stuart Davies second with 81lbs and Martin Churchill third with 77lbs1oz.
